UPDATE MAC 10.9.5 TO 10.10 INSTALL
Install your new software first, and then you might consider removing 2011 If you go with 2016 or LibreOffice you won't need your 2011 install. If you prefer, you could try to find a never been used copy of Microsoft Office 2011 somewhere such as eBay and get the product key from that and use it to activate your current install of 2011.

LibreOffice is a free, somewhat compatible desktop suite and runs in a wider range of Mac OS versions than Microsoft Office. You might consider using LibreOffice to replace Microsoft Office. If upgrading your Mac from 10.9 to 10.10 is not possible due to hardware restrictions, then the alternative is to use Microsoft Office on line (Free) at.

If your hardware supports that version of Mac OS, then you can use your subscription to activate Office 2016. A friend put a copy of 10.10 on a thumb drive for me to install but when I try, it tells me the installation was successful but the update never occurred as About This Mac still shows the old 10.9.5. Microsoft Office 2016 requires a minimum of Mac OS version 10.10 It appears that might be the case here, as you don't seem to have a product key for Office 2011.

If you had a volume license it would have been issued by an organization such as a school or employer. Thank you for all the help with troubleshooting, I look forward to hearing back. If I must reinstall, is my current Microsoft subscription compatible? If I must reinstall, how do I select a version of Microsoft that will be compatible? Should I cancel my current subscription in order to get a different subscription? I am stuck as I do not want to uninstall Microsoft yet, as I may not be able to reinstall it (as Pavanpreet has shown, installing requires a 10.14.0 or late) and want to see if I can get what I already have installed running again.ĭoes anyone know how to get Microsoft working again from this issue? also, I believe I have Microsoft 2011 on my macbook, and my subscription says it is Microsoft 365, just fyi, Im not sure if there is a distinction in my subscription as to what version I originally downloaded a year ago. (I have had this subscription since August 2020, and it has worked without a hitch, and my current renewal has been processed i.e. I only recently have not been able to use Microsoft apps (mainly word) on my macbook. What I am confused about is that I have a Microsoft 365 subscription that I have been using for a year, and it has been renewing each month. I have the same operating system on my macbook (10.9.5) I have the exact same issue as Pavanpreet's issue. Standalone updates can be useful if you want to install the same update again or on another computer.Split from this thread maybe not quite the same issue.
